Mercy's 5K Stroke Awareness Run is being held on Saturday, May 4th at Mercy Medical Center.
This fun run is held to educate participants on the signs and symptoms of a stroke. All funds raised goes straight into our Primary Care Stroke Program, which was awarded the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission.
This year’s 5K event will be chip-timed, which means you can have your race results emailed or texted to you when you cross the finish line. The end of the race brings you right to our Family Festival where there will be free health screenings, as well as many family-friendly activities.
For the past five years, we have challenged community groups, businesses, and friends to create teams to participate in the race. We would like to extend that challenge again this year by asking you to form a team of 5 or more participants.
We encourage you to be creative with your team name and outfits for race day. Awards will be given for the team with the most members, the team with the best costume, and the team with the best selfie!
We need your help in bringing a third Dr. Bot to Mercy Medical Center!
In its eighth year of existence, Mercy's 5K Stroke Awareness Run has been a vital source of fundraising for numerous services and equipment for our Stroke Program.
Most notably, funds raised from previous races were used to purchase a second Remote Presence Medical Robot, better known as Dr. Bot. This 5-foot-tall robot is used to assess and diagnose patients suspected of suffering a stroke.
It allows physicians to “beam” themselves into Mercy Medical Center's patient rooms 24-hours a day to diagnose patients and offer medical advice.
Although Mercy now has 2 (two) Dr. Bots on staff, the need for a third robot is critical as the number of stroke activations has been on the rise as well as expansion into using the robots for mental health and psychiatric evaluations.
We need your help to reach our goal of $100,000 to purchase Dr. Bot! We encourage you to check out the many ways below you can get involved below.
