Teens interested in being a part of the 2018 Merced County Fair are encouraged to apply for a seat on the Junior Fair Board by the November 30, 2017deadline.
The Junior Fair Board provides a great opportunity for teens to be part of Merced’s largest annual tradition while gaining valuable, real-life work experience and helping fulfill high school community service requirements.
Candidates must live in Merced County and be 14 to 19 years of age as of January 1, 2018. They must also have a GPA of 2.0 or higher as of the Spring 2017 semester and show no more than one animal at the Merced County Fair to be eligible to volunteer.
Junior Fair Board duties include assisting with pre-fair planning and events, as well as set-up and special program and exhibit support during the Fair. Applicants do not need any previous experience at the fair.
Each Junior Fair Board member receives free parking and admission for one person and one vehicle during the fair to allow them to execute their fair-time duties. Selected Junior Fair Board members will serve a one year term.
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month and as needed as the fair gets closer. The 2018 Merced County Fair will be June 6-10.
Junior Fair Board applications are available for pick-up at the Merced County Fairgrounds’ Office located at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way and also can be downloaded from the fair’s website at: http://bit.ly/JrFairBoard.
Applications must be received at the Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Merced, CA 95341 by November 30, 2017.
