Hundreds of colorful kites will fill the skies over Livingston Middle School at the 6th Annual Knights of Columbus “Time to Fly” Kite Festival, Sunday, April 9, from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
This FREE event is a celebration of professional and leisure kite fliers with some of the most colorful giant “show kites” that can be shaped as planes, birds, dogs, pirate ships and even octopuses.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Huey Helicopter will land to kick off the event and the First 500 Kids get a free Kite so get there early.
The Kite Festival is presented by Livingston Community Health, First 5 Merced County and Hot 104.7.
Join us for this year’s kite flying festivities that will include GIANT Kite Flying Demonstrations, kite-Building workshops, Kite Building Contests, and the “Jim Strealy” Memorial Sugar-Free Candy Drop. NEW this year we, will have a Rubik’s Cube solving contest!
Other activities include the Rotary Club of Livingston Pie Eating Contest, Face Painting, Bounce Houses, Crafts, Kite, and informational Vendor booths, plus various cultural performances and safety demonstrations from PG&E, Livingston Police and Fire, CHP, and Merced County Sheriff.
Livingston Community Health will provide a FREE full-service health fair onsite with free preventative screenings and resources for the community.

Each year, in anticipation of the kite festival, the Knights of Columbus have kite building days at the local Head starts pre-schools and Middle Schools.
This year will be no different as we will have the kite building days the week prior to the Kite Festival. Don’t forget to ENTER the FREE Kite Building Contest for your chance to win cash money!
The annual springtime kite festival has experienced substantial growth over the last few years. When the weather is ideal, crowds can exceed 4,000 people.
